It is official. I am ready for 2024. The calendars, planner, farmer's almanac and magickal almanac have arrived.
Present Book: The Covenant of Water by Abraham Verghese. It takes place in India and follows a family for about a century. This is not a book that I would have ever picked up, but so far, it is an amazing adventure. I am reading it with my dad who suggested it. I think it is going to be amazing.
Future Book: The good thing is that I have an entire personal library of books at my disposal. This was one of my dreams, you see, to have a library of all of my favorite books and all of the books that I may want to read someday. Even though I may not know where my next reading adventure may be hiding, I have hundreds of books to choose from. That is a very good feeling.
Nursing is who I am. It is not just what I do. In the past months, I have been taking the time to examine just what nursing means to me. I am finding that I do not want to be far from the bedside. I find that it is becoming more important to me to teach the next generation of nurses the skills that they will need to care for people and keep the profession going. Nursing is an honorable job to hold and we want to keep it that way.
I am buckling down and taking some time to figure out how I am going to incorporate all of the things that sing my soul into my daily routine in addition to the things I am obligated to do as an adult. Yuck. That is reality, and reality is a process that we must face if we are going to spend our free time dreaming. The objective is to get the things that have to be done...done quickly so we can enjoy the days regardless of the list of things that must be completed. Life should be a magickal journey filled with joy. Human beings live on the physical plane, however, so we live also in the realm of these things called responsibilities. This is okay as long as we don't get bogged down by all of it. So, the way today is to find the magick within the mundane. It is there. Some days you just have to look a little harder to find it.
Profound and deep feelings of admiration, respect and awe.
"The person who is born with a talent which he or she is meant to use, finds his or her greatest happiness in using it." Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.
